![]() Overall, if you like betrayal and have fond nostalgia for Scooby Doo I would say it’s definitely worth picking up. (Daphne starts with extra Scooby snacks, Scooby gets to move one additional tile beyond his speed, Fred gets to start with an item, Velma can’t roll below a 3 on intelligence checks, and Shaggy gets to reroll up to two dice per Scooby snack.) it gives the characters a bit more flavor than just stat variance from old guard betrayal. Each character has some bonus based upon what their good at. One thing I do like is the inclusion of character abilities. In the early game there rarely seems to be a need to use them and (when playing with 5 people) the entire available supply gets dispensed and hoarded for haunt thrashing. Each character can earn Scooby snacks as the game progresses that allow you to spend them to reroll a single die from any skill roll you make. One mechanic that we’ve found a bit clunky is the Scooby snacks. I will say the balance wise it seems to skew in favor of the Scooby gang having an easier path to victory than our masked monsters. Thus far I haven’t found and haunts or events that are ambiguous or confusing though. ![]() This makes the board feel smaller, but also makes the game play faster. Unlike classic betrayal, there are only two regions, inside and outside. You’re probably already aware, but it is worth noting that there is no set traitor selection, rather the group can use whatever method they want to select the traitor (and one of the Scooby gang goes missing). There is a lot of nostalgia in the haunts as they are all (I think) based on classic Scooby episodes. There are a total of 25 haunts, but rather than have all 25 possible at once, you preselect a group of 5 by complexity and will end up with one of those. Most of the rules are the same, with just minor variances. It is a fun little game, but definitely tuned for a younger audience. r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
